Thrupthan Ayurvedic Head Oil - Kerala Herbal Thailam, 100ml
Thrupthan is our own licensed Ayurvedic head oil — a Thathasthu Herbals product, made under our own drug licence at the GMP-certified premises of Aswini Ayurvedic Pharmacy in Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad. Unlike an ordinary hair oil, it follows a specific traditional application protocol: the timing and the method are part of how it is meant to work, and the herbal wash pouch you need comes in the box. Its approved name on the pack is Thrupthan Migraine Oil.
In Kerala Ayurveda, oil applied to the head (shiro abhyanga) is a long-standing practice for calming the mind and easing tension. Thrupthan is prepared for that purpose, with a clear structured routine for the first three days.
100% natural herbal ingredients. No synthetic fragrance or chemical additives.

- Traditionally used to ease recurring head discomfort, including migraine-type headaches

How to use — the first three days
Morning
- Apply 20 ml of oil to the scalp at around 5:15 am.
- Leave it on for half an hour.
- Wash it out before sunrise using the herbal pouch supplied in the box, not shampoo or soap.
At night
- Apply 10 ml of oil to your scalp before going to bed.
Important: do not use shampoo or soap while you are using this oil. That instruction is part of the protocol, not a suggestion.
After the first three days, continue as advised on the pack or by your practitioner.
Who it suits
Adults wanting traditional external support for tension and headache-related discomfort. For external use only. Patch test before first use. Severe, sudden or changing headaches need medical assessment — please see a doctor rather than relying on an oil alone.

Frequently asked questions
Why so early in the morning?
The protocol follows the traditional Kerala Ayurvedic emphasis on the pre-dawn period for head applications. Follow the timing on the pack — around 5:15 am, washed out before sunrise — for the first three days.
What is the pouch for?
It is used to wash the oil out after the morning application, in place of shampoo or soap.
Why can I not use shampoo or soap?
The instruction is specified with this oil. Use the herbal pouch, or plain water, during the course.
What happens after three days?
Continue as directed on the pack or as advised by an Ayurvedic practitioner.
Can I use it if I do not get migraines?
Yes — it is also used simply as a calming head oil for stress and tension.
Can I use it alongside prescribed medication?
It is external, but tell your doctor what you are using and never stop prescribed treatment on your own.
Who actually makes it?
Thrupthan is our own formulation under our own drug licence, 11/25E/2024. It is manufactured for us at Aswini Ayurvedic Pharmacy's GMP-certified premises in Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad, under their technical supervision. Both licence numbers are published here and on the pack so you can verify them.
